Be the change you want to see in the world
JCI ECM is an informal annual 3-4 day conference, organized by an European Capital. The event focuses on learning, networking, cultural exchange, connecting with fellow capital city chapters, the opportunity to explore the City’s iconic places, and of course fun! The ECM was held for the first time in 1993 in Berlin and has been held annually ever since. Other host cities have been Ankara, Belgrade, Bern, Brussels, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, London, Luxembourg, Chisnau, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vilnius and Warsaw.
JCI Amsterdam International is the host for JCI ECM 2022 and our focus is diversity and inclusion. With 180 different nationalities and 45% ethnic minorities, the population of Amsterdam is one of the most diverse in Europe. People of different ethnic origin, with a different socio-economic position / status and sexual orientation, people with and without religion live close together in neighbourhoods. Amsterdam has almost 1 million residents and 20% are expats. 50% of the Dutch residents are of non-Dutch descent.
The local government’s goal is to focus the attention on what connects us, instead of our differences. Where people with different backgrounds work together, new insights emerge, which leads to innovation and creativity. Because the more people participate, the stronger and more dynamic the city is!
